Today was orientation for my last nursing class before graduation, which is in 53 days (including today).
First thing in the morning at 0830 we had our HESI comprehensive exam my score was something like 1187 and the conversion score (the one that is counted for class) was a 99.99%. When I hit the submit button on the 86th question and prepared myself for what I might see. I felt a serious adrenaline dump into my system when I saw the score. I nearly hyperventilated right there in my chair. Amazing. That will give a good basis which to build on for the rest of the semester. Too bad it’s only worth 15% of my grade.
We had 15 minute break after that exam. And then we went to another room for a dosage exam. IT was 25 questions and I passed the first time this time unlike last time. So that was nice.
We had a wonderfully long lunch (1.5 hrs) because it didn’t take me the full hour to do the dosage exam. Some of us went to the cafe and others off campus to Chipolte.
The rest of the afternoon was talking about practicum expectation, various assignments to be done during practicum, etc. We also had the career center come and talk to us about resumes, cover letters and the like. What to do , what not to do, etc. Fairly intersting and I’m glad because our first discussion is picking apart a sample resume and telling what is wrong with it and what could be improved.
The dean of Nursing came at 4pm and talked to us about applying for licensure and applying to take the NCLEX.
We got out of orientation at 1705. Long day.
Tomorrow is my first day of Practicum! I’m excited and scared all at once.
