In the run up to vacation, I managed to crack my tooth or really my dental work on the front tooth. That happened on the Friday before vacation with me running around trying to get stuff done so I had to add a visit to a dentist in to that too.
Of course, my own dentist couldn’t get me in. I didn’t like my dentist anyway, but still, this is a pre-vacation emergency! Couldn’t fit me in. (Forgive me if I’ve written about this in my previous entry). So I tried and failed at three different “emergency dentists” and not one could take me!
I gave up and went home thinking crazy things like crazy glue and stuff. Of course, I wouldn’t have I just couldn’t think about having basically a half of a tooth for my whole vacation.
When I walked in the door my husband had found a dentist that would take me at 3 pm. So I came home and ate a little something soft and headed back out to the dentist. The office was beautiful and the staff was lovely. They were so nice. They bonded my tooth and I told them I wanted them to be my new dentist. So I have a comprehensive appointment for August 9 at 8 am.
I also went down to Ulta to get my brows done by the Meredith at the Benefit Brow Bar. (She’s my favorite brow girl). I actually got down there at 1030 for my 1100 appointment and went into Target to get a few pre trip necessities. (Since we would be gone nearly 2.5 weeks I needed full size everything. ) my phone didn’t ring but I ended up getting a message from Meredith saying that she had a family and emergency but asked me to call her. So I called her and she set me up st the Salon at Ulta. A lady named Pat, the manager of the salon, did my eye brows. She didn’t do a great job but it was passable. I had little choice but to deal with it. .
So after all was said and done I had to finish up the laundry and pack on Friday as well. I packed until about 8:30 pm and then sat down and watched an hour of TV and then I had to go to bed to be at work by 0600 at the jail. We did double the medical history and physicals we normally do on in intake on a Saturday. It was a busy day! But the day went fast and I got home right on time and finished backing everything I didn’t pack the day before.
On Sunday our dog sitter, Vanessa visited us before she went to church to get the run down on our menagerie. We wrote it all down and printed it out and verbally went over everything with her. The dogs were delighted to see her. (We had done a meet and greet a couple of weeks back.). We went out back and showed her how the coop worked and stuff. And she went off to church.
We left at 10 am and we but the doggies in their crates and then we left the house. You should have heard the cry’s and howls that came from the house! It broke my heart!
What has been really nice is we get updates and pictures and videos from Vanessa every evening and she tells us how much she loves our dogs and loves taking care of the chickens and our guinea pig and my puffer fish. She’s pretty enchanted by our farm. Lol
It took us nearly 8 hours to get to Atlanta. We stopped a couple of times for refreshments and gas but there was no real traffic to speak of and we found our B&B without an issue. It was on a residential street in Historic Grant Park a block Or two from Zoo Atlanta. (And for those walking dead fans – the house that stood in for Ricks house from the first season of the Walking Dead on Cherokee Street. I snapped a couple of pictures of that.
We drove up the long driveway and checked into the B&B. Our B&B was The Social Goat. Located on Robinson Street in Grant Park. We had the carriage house
