I am loving my new job. I enjoy nursing a lot. But never thought I would work on a medical oncology floor. I am not chemo certified yet. I need to learn the job of nursing first.
The end of my orientation is fast approaching. So far it’s been a great experience for the most part. I go off on my own as of December 9th.
Tomorrow, however will be my first sick call. I’ve been sick since 3/4 of my way thought shift on Sunday. It started with the scratchy gaggy dry cough and has escalated to a snotty coughy mess. Every joint in my body hurt earlier. But that is better now. I spent the day napping, watching The Walking Dead that I fell asleep during on Sunday night due to being so tired.
I hate to be out with my orientation days numbered to so few shifts. I have no business being there if I can’t be sharp. Because I need to be sharp for my patients because they require all of me. All of my attention, for all 12 hours. That just wouldn’t happen tomorrow.
