Not so good

I essentially failed my last exam.  The grades came out today.  What is a “C” for normal college students is an F for nursing students. (anything below at 77% is an F.) I got a 74.67%.  That leaves my average as a B.  If I do very well on the other exams and my other work I can keep that B.  I can’t tell you how much that sucks.    I have to go in and review the exam with my teacher. Embarrassing. I guess I enjoyed my life a little too much during those 4 weeks between tests.  I’ll have to do better next time.

Stressful weekend ahead and that really depends on how much I can get done my only non-work and non- school day off until next Thursday.  I have a few case studies to do, a discussion board post on Dementia, reply to my classmates discussion board posts (there will be three of those replies) and on top of all of that I’m supposed to read for class and now there is a simulation day paper due on Tuesday 0700.  It includes:

Patho-on ALL diagnosis of the patient  (looks like Diabetes and COPD)
Signs and Symptoms listed for the patient compared to the textbook
Risk Factors for each diagnosis of the patient
Medication list (completed for the patient)
3 Nursing Diagnosis (only allowed one Risk) with interventions
At least 5 patient teaching per diagnosis

While all of these may not seem like a big deal, I am working Sat, Sun and Monday 12 hours each day (7-7) so I will be up late some of those nights doing all this crap.  I hope to be able to do some at work with my laptop.

Coming up later in the weeks, I have to go for another mental health rotation day, write an IPR with Axis diagnoses, Erickson stages, Maslow’s hierarchy,  and some other stuff in it, and I have to attend and AA meeting and do the assignment on that. All of this will take time.

Speaking of Mental health.  My first clinical day was interesting.  I had a good group of classmates with me, Ginnie, Melyssa, Trey, Ria, Claire and Alison.   We went on the locked ward in an old hospital. We participated in the morning group orientation, snack time,  We played games with them (jenga, Uno) and helped to lead a group on stress and stress relief.  We talked to the patients as well.  It was pretty intersting.  Although I did hear one story over and over, LOL. I was pretty exhausted when I left there.

  1. oh no! I’m sorry about your test. At least you know it’s because of a lack of studying….which happens on occasion because sometimes life gets in the way. I’m surprised you are able to work and go through the accelerated program. I keep thinking about getting a job because I need the money but then I have a crazy week where there’s NO extra time for anything but school and maybe exercise for sanity’s sake. Good luck on the rest of your tests this semester.
