Wow, this week I’m just not terribly
Motivated to do work for nursing school. I am wishing and hoping for motivation to do more than the bare minimum. I’ve done no reading. Just a little research on cardiogenic shock for my discussion board. I had to do a power point presentation on hemodynamics as well. I called upon the Internet for pictures and used my old hemodynamic monitoring textbook from respiratory school as a basis with some current information from the Internet because the text book is from 1995 and our sources have to be 10 or less years old. I don’t know that the causes of cardiogenic shock have changed much since 1995 but perhaps nursing a patient with cardiogenic shock has.
I had a FANTASTIC drawing that I made that shows SVR, PVR, CVP etc normals. That drawing made it very easy for me to understand it. Of course, when u don’t use it you lose it so this is a great refresher.
I have to run over and retake the dosage exam because I missed by one. (3 wrong) And I damn near forgot today! I only remembered somehow on my way out the door for PT.( for the shooting pain in my right shoulder that I’ve had since 2 days before Christmas. ) I can’t believe I forgot about it! Wish me luck!
I got my grade back for my first discussion post. I got 19 out of 20 (as well as an “impressive” ) because I didn’t answer one part of one of the questions. I actually got an email with feed back regarding my post. She showed me where what I said didn’t apply in this case study and other stuff. I am really thankful for that feedback. That is a nice change from last semester where we weren’t sure the teacher even read them and offered no real feedback.
One benefit of having my clinical site and day changed is that I get Mrs D as a Clinical instructor again. I really like her. She offered foot feedback and lessons. She has high expectations of you but that’s okay. I always thrive under those conditions.
I’m excited to know that we will be on post surgical cardiac floors this semester. I wish it were for longer than 4 patient days. I can’t remember if I mentioned that we’ve given our preferences for practicum. My first choice is cardiac, 2nd is pediatrics -and third is medical renal. Sure I could have picked pulmonary but I get enough of that at work. This is motto say that I think I’ve learned all I can learn about pulmonary, not by a long shot.
I’m dreading and I’m excited about this semester all at the same time. Is that weird to say?
