In this series I will describe the products from Limelight by Alcone

Since skin is important for everyone I will start with the skin care products from Limelight. Skin care is even more important the older we get! As we age our skin  gets old along with the rest of our bodies.  Our three layers of skin age in different ways.  There are three parts to the organ which is your skin.  Like every other organ we need to take care of it.

The Epidermis the the outer most layer of our skin which provides a protective barrier for us.

The Dermis is the middle layer of skin.  It  contains collagen and elastin, which provide strength, firmness and elasticity. It also contains blood vessels, immune cells, nerves and glands that produce sweat and oil.

The deepest layer consists of connective tissue and fat.

Now, as we age the Epidermis does not slough off as easily as it used to.  And your skin does not retain as much moisture as it used to.  The collagen and elastin in the epidermis break down.The skin then becomes less firm and less elastic. Then gravity takes its toll, and pulls on your skin but it doesn’t bounce back like it used to and as a result the skin starts to sag.  Fine lines form around the eyes (crows feet), deepened lines appear at the corners of the mouth (laugh lines) and across the forehead, and skin in various places (such as under the jaw and in the neck) starts to hang down and get crepe.  Crepe skin is skin that  is “thin, loose and flaccid with a certain degree of sagging”   I have crepe skin just above my knees.
