I had my job interview today.  Yes, that’s right I drove out in the middle of Tropical Storm Issac, and entered the hospital with my dress pants soaked to the knee from the sideways rain.  LOL!I was supposed to meet the nurse manager in HR and I guess some signals got crossed somewhere and they were supposed to call her when I arrived and I waited 20 minutes before I called her.  So luckily, I had 20 minutes to dry.

I think that the interview went well. We did the interview and then she told me of a new, new grad program that they were beginning to standardize hospital wide.   That I thought was excellent.  She also said that orientation would be 120 days.  That’s pretty good for a new grad I think.  So that makes me happy because I am nervous having little to no practice on the skills I learned in nursing school. And I did one IV in school.  She asked about my end game and I told her CVICU- eventually.

I don’t know if I am getting the job or not but I am scheduled for a job shadow this Wednesday.  I will go in at morning shift change and shadow a nurse on that floor for several hours to see if I fit in or if I like the unit.  So I’m excited about that.

So maybe this is the beginning of something great!
