I always try really hard not to get into political arguments on Facebook. Today was no exception I did however make a comment on a friends post, not to my friend but from another guy, from outside the US, who was making sarcastic and stupid remarks to another friend who commented on this friends post. There were a couple of exchanges and then I shut it down.
You will only get treated like a troll if you get into arguments with people. On social media you can make rhetorical statements without having to back up your arguments. You may also be seen as stupid. There is no moderation in Facebook and people will just push their points until you feel like an idiot.
Facebook is to network with your friends and possibly make new contacts. depending on how you use Facebook. Facebook is not the proper place to air your political views. No one cares, you aren’t going to change anyone’s mind (it is a total waste of time,) and it will just cause turmoil in your life. I have lost a Facebook friend over politics. She wasn’t a very good friend, granted but our political views differed so dramatically that she decided that I was not friendship material anymore because I didn’t believe as she believed. Get over it people! Agree to disagree and move on! Get outside, go stand up for something other than in your computer chair.
Facebook should be fun. We get enough politics on TV and in the paper. Who needs it where we get our cat videos and farm requests?
