Stuck in the 80’s
Do you enjoy podcasts? I certainly do. I remember the first podcast I discovered and it’s still a favorite. Its called Stuck in the 80’s.
Stuck in the 80’s is 524 episodes strong. It continues to be my number one favorite podcast
“Stuck in the 80s was created by award-winning writer and editor Steve Spears, then a web editor for the Tampa Bay Times, Florida’s largest daily newspaper. In addition to 17 years in various editorial roles at the Times,
A variety of co-hosts and correspondents have contributed regularly to Stuck in the ’80s. Co-host Brad Williams, aka “Brad in LA,” joined the podcast in 2012. Previously Sean Daly of ABC Action News in Tampa was the original Cohost, Along with Gina Vivinetto and others.
Over the years, production of the podcast has evolved. It began back in 2005 with just a digital recorder and two microphones. . These days, B-rad and Steve and special guest “Jen-with-one-N” record via Ringr and edit the show using Audacity. You can listen to shows here
Faculty of Horror
Another favorite podcast is the Horror podcast Faculty of Horror. The Faculty of Horror is done by two canadian ladies Alexandra West and Andrea Subissati who are authors and highly educated. They look at movies from a sociological perspective and it’s super interesting. I’ve been listening for years and I have mentioned them before
Alex West has written a few books on the topic of Horror. Check them out! Films of the New French Extremity: Visceral Horror and National Identity (not an affiliate link) and The 1990s Teen Horror Cycle: Final Girls and a New Hollywood Formula (also not an affiliate link)
Andrea Subissati is the executive editor for Rue Morgue Magazine a great Canadian Horror Magazine
Terror Talk – True Crime Psychology & Horror Film Podcast
Terror Talk is another Podcast which has an academic basis. This podcast, with it’s related Shrink Chat shows on the channel discusses horror movies from a Psychological perspective. It is fantastic and I love to listen to it. True Crime, Serial Killers and horror movies is what you will find here.
The Heir Pod
If you are a british Royal family watcher like I am you will enjoy The Heir Pod. Go behind palace walls with ABC News royal contributor Omid Scobie as he dives deep into the latest stories from the House of Windsor with insider interviews and special guests. This podcast was formally called On Heir and was hosted by Omid and Emily Andrews. I don’t know why the name and channel change but it’s still a great podcast about the British Royal family.
Sometimes Dead is Better
This podcast is relatively new but it’s fun. Pt gets it’s name from the famous line from Pet Semetery- “Sometimes Dead is Better” spoken by Jud. In this show they discuss horror movies and then by pair a true crime story directly or indirectly related to the movie (think Psycho and Ed Gein) They aren’t the most knowledgeable in horror movie facts and trivia but they do a decent job.
I listen to other podcasts but those above are my favorites. I hope you check out some of these podcasts listed above.
