Being a merchandiser for Chloe and Isabel I am forever getting new pieces. They wouldn’t fit in my jewelry box so I needed a creative solution. So I made something. The finished product is at the bottom of this entry.
What you need to make this project:
- A cork board. I used a 2 foot by 3 foot one.
- About 2 yards of whatever fabric you want to use
- Cotton batting
- ribbons of your choice (contrasting is what I used)
- cup hooks (I used white cup hooks)
- Craft Stapler I used Fiskars Craft Stapler
- Fiskars Staples
- Sewing Scissors
- cut a piece of cotton batting that would cover the cork board and and a little left over to be able to secure to the back. Secure this batting with staples on the back of the cork board,
- Take your chosen material and steam or press so it is without wrinkles or creases.
- Spread the material on a large table. Lay the cork board face down over the material.
- cut the excess material with enough to have a good margin to secure with staples.
- Secure fabric to the back of the board using staples.
- Measure about 3 inches from the top and place 5-6 cup hooks on this line.
- measure down 14 inches and mark with another line of 5-6 cup staggered from the cup hooks above.
- Repeat step 7 and place 5- cup hooks.
- Measure out your ribbon of choice long enough to stretch across of the board and have a little left over on either side to secure on the back of the board as before.
- place ribbon strips a little above and a little below each row of cup hooks. Secure to the back of the board
- hang the board using hooks and a picure hanging wire on your wall where you want it.
- hang your necklaces!
