This was a tough practicum week for me. It was day 7, 8 and 9. I don’t know what it was, me being tired, taking the whole team for the first time or the complicatedness of my patients. By complicated I mean, they had chest tubes, drains, fresh incisions and the charting! The charting was an enormous bear to me! I just felt like there wasn’t any time! I had a difficult time keeping up and keeping all those patients straight in my head. Who has what drains, who has a Blake tube who has a regular chest tube, etc. It was a tough week. I was there on Friday until 2045. Monday is my scheduled make up day from when I got cancelled. However, I added my hours and had 121 hours. I sent them to my teacher who told me that I need not go back because I had over the 120 required hours. So Yay!! That frees up another day for study for exams and to write the last discussion question for the program!! We are in the LAST module!! (This is also awesome because I have an RT conference to go to on April 19 out at the beach!)
This week I also did my interview with a nurse manager for my Clinical management application paper. I chose a nurse at my job who is a nurse manager but was a bedside nurse as late as last year and I worked with him. So it was really interesting to talk to him with this new perspective and I really learned a lot about management and has changed my perspective on managers in general.
So what’s left?
- 18 Days Left!!
- One Discussion on Quality assurance and improvement
- Exam on Modules 4-7 on Friday April 20
- 2 Evolve case studies due April 23 (there were six total)
- Patient care managment practicum Hesi Achievement exam (April 25)
- Hesi Exit exam (April 27) with Pinning Luncheon the same day.
- Pinning! (May2)
The beautiful thing is that i am carrying an A right now. I hope I can keep it!
